Design Process
In a world full of unknowns, feel secure in how I carefully and predictably handle each project. Here's how I do it:
1. Onboarding
The first step before jumping in is to inquire through my form here. After reviewing your inquiry, I’ll set up an introductory call in order to meet (virtually) and get a feel for who you are and what your business and project look like.
After this meeting, I’ll send a project proposal, contract and invoice for a 25% or 50% deposit (depending on project scope). Once that is signed off on and paid, your project will be officially booked and I'll enter the planning/waiting stage before your project start date.
2. Brand Strategy
Your brand identity is more than just a logo. Before even thinking about a visual direction, we need to get to the roots of your business and identify some key items such as:
Your Mission and Purpose
Your Values
Target Audience
Brand Positioning
Brand Personality
Brand Voice
We’ll start with a brand questionnaire followed by a discovery meeting where I will guide our discussion through activities and questions to uncover that essential information. This session is just as valuable, if not more so, than your visual brand elements itself. This foundation is what will allow us to make decisions on where the visual direction should go in order to appeal to the appropriate audience and portray the values and tone of your business.
3. Creative Direction
Now that the foundations of your branding are in place, it’s time to define the creative direction. I will design two moodboards with slightly varied styles for you to review. Each moodboard will showcase inspiring photography, typography, a color palette, and more—along with a detailed explanation of the reasoning behind each style choice.
You’ll choose the direction that resonates most with you, and if any tweaks are needed, one round of free revisions is included. This decision will guide the finalization of your colors, fonts, and brand guidelines.
4. Design Visual Identity
Now it’s time to turn the planning into reality! Using all the insights gathered from the Strategy and Creative Direction, I’ll create a comprehensive visual identity presentation. This will include one logo suite concept, with an in-depth explanation of each element and why it’s a strong fit for your business.
Once you’ve had time to reflect on the concept, you can share your feedback. You’ll have two free revisions to refine any aspect of the presentation, including logos, fonts, colors, and more.
If your package includes design add-ons, I’ll begin working on those after finalizing your core branding to ensure consistency across all items. This way, we’ll have the finalized branding ready to apply seamlessly to each item.
4. Launch
After final approval on all design elements and the final payment is processed, I will package and transfer all files to you via Dropbox. Your files will be provided in a variety of formats and color options, ensuring compatibility with both web and print needs.
I will also transfer the finished website to your Squarespace account, giving you full ownership and access. Any Canva templates will be sent directly to your Canva account, and tutorial videos will be included with your final brand files.
